Hunger is something that the world will inevitably have. Some places don't have enough resources to nourish the population. Food has to somehow become a free commodity because letting a another being starve right before our eyes is an unspeakable evil.
I'm just glad that my mother had some of these programs to use to feed her many children because she would not have been able to afford food at grocery stores.USA is going the right way even though it requires us tax payers to keep it going.
